How It Works

Ground Loop | ECS Geothoermal

Ground Loop

In the summer months, the geothermal system will remove the heat from your home and dissipate it into the earth via the ground loop. The earth absorbs this heat quickly and the ground loop returns much cooler water back into the system. During the heating mode, the system will remove stored heat from the earth and move it into the system via the ground loop. This greatly reduces the amount of energy needed to warm the home.

Horizontal Slinky Loop | ECS Geothoermal

Horizontal Slinky Loop

  • 5 – 6 feet deep
  • 800 feet of pipe per ton
  • 130 foot of trench per ton
  • Slinky configuration

The slinky loop is the preferred loop when land space and soil conditions are adequate, as it is the least expensive to install.

Vertical Loop | ECS Geothoermal

Vertical Loop

  • 150 – 200 feet deep
  • 300 – 400 feet of pipe per ton

The vertical loop is the preferred loop when land space is limited rocky soil conditions exist.

Pond Loop

  • Minimum 8 feet deep
  • 1/4 acre pond surface
  • 400 feet of pipe per ton
